Yes this issue occurs on the latest 1.4.0 dmg.
Device- iPhone 6+ running iOS 8.3.
I have open a bug as suggested.

Appium server not running. Installed appium 1.4.0 and using server address 127.0.0.1 and port 4723.

Getting the below error

I have the same issue when trying to launch Appium programmatically. It complains about "Could not initialize ideviceinstaller". This issue seems to be limited to Eclipse. When I run mvn test from the command line, it runs fine, and I can run the Appium app too. Any idea what can cause this behavior?

I suggest to roll back to 1.3.5 for the time being til things get sorted out. Thtat's what I am doing at the moment

installing idevice installer from brew will solve the issue
install brew from -> ruby -e "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/master/install)"
and install -> brew install ideviceinstaller

I am trying to run my app and my app is getting crashed and is getting restarted and get crashed again.

I was facing the same issues with 1.3.7 and same with latest 1.4.0.

Can you one please help me resolve this so that I can make a start on iOS automation.

Do you also have release notes for minor releases? I just did a npm install -g appium and got Appium version 1.4.6.
It would be good to know what are the different to previous versions. The last versions I used was 1.4.1 for this version there is a release note in GitHub.

The 'Search' in soft-keyboard stopped working for me from iOS 8.3 (it will shut down the testing app after click the 'Search')...it was fine in iOS 8.2. and I tried with iOS 8.4, it's still not working. can anyone please help to take a look? many thanks!
